REEEP selected to host Climate Knowledge Brokers Group Coordination Hub

REEEP is excited to announce it has been selected to host the Coordination Hub for the Climate Knowledge Brokers Group.

REEEP is excited to announce that the Climate Knowledge Brokers Group Steering Group, including representatives from the Climate & Development Knowledge Network (CDKN), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the International Development Research Center (IDRC) and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR), this month selected REEEP as the hosting organization for the new Climate Knowledge Brokers Group (CKB Group) Coordination Hub.small_flower.gif

Launched in 2011, the CKB Group is an emerging alliance of around 50 of the leading global and regional organizations specializing in climate and development information.  Until now, it has been an informal group, the Steering Group chaired by CDKN, which has also supported a number of collaborative projects involving CKB members.

At the CKB Group annual workshop in Bonn, 2013, the Group agreed to step up its ambitions by establishing a Coordination Hub and developing a joint program of work on capacity building, sharing learning and improving coordination between climate knowledge brokers.  Since then, the Group has raised its profile through a successful side event at COP 19, in Warsaw, and found further evidence of the need for the Group through demand expressed from several major new portals for advice from the CKB ‘knowledge clinic’.

In February 2014, the CKB Group took the next step and issued an open call for proposals among members to host and operate the Coordination Hub. REEEP convinced the Steering Committee with its long track record of engagement with the CKB Group, demonstrated dedication to the Group’s mission and values, and reputation as a solid, robust international partner and collaborator. REEEP looks forward to helping the CKB Group take the next step toward realizing its potential in improving the knowledge landscape for climate and development professionals worldwide.
